This weekend our MS/HS robotics team participated in the field practice round of WSU's BEST Robotics competition. We competed against Valley Center, Washburn Rural, Kapaun, Smoky Valley, Atchison, and Canton-Galva. The team did well, learned a lot, and had an enormous amount of fun. We are ready for finals on the 22nd at Koch Arena. We are incredibly grateful for the help of our mentor, Mr. Daniel Leal, a lead engineer at Spirit and the support of a grant from the Society of Professional Enginners in Aerospace. Congratulations to Joseph Valadez for the kudos he earned on his multi-dimensional front wheel system and Connor Wiley for getting it to move the way Joseph designed it.

There will be limited concessions tonight due to the Junior Class Parents having a pulled pork dinner.

Parents!
We continue to be worried about the content our students consume and their safety online. We believe this may be contributing to the frequency of inappropriate and unsafe talk/behavior in our school.
Here are some concerning apps/games we've been hearing a lot about recently:
*TikTok (formerly rated 17+; now rated 12+ for sexual content/nudity, mature/suggestive themes, alcohol/tobacco/drug references, violence, profanity) - Allows users to create short videos and interact together through comments and messages. Houses all sorts of inappropriate content including dangerous "trends" and challenges and sexually explicit talk/videos. This is the number one app used for eliciting young people to trafficking right now.
*Omegle (17+ for frequent/intense mature/suggestive themes and sexual content) - Designed specifically for interacting and chatting with strangers.
*Five Night's at Freddy's (12+) - Horror themed video game/app with lots of scary content not suitable children or pre-teens.
*Rainbow friends (9+) - Another horror themed video game/app.
*Snapchat (12+ for mature/suggestive themes, sexual content/nudity, alochol/tobacco/drug references, profanity) - Instantly deletes messages, pictures, and videos once received.
*Roblox (12+) - Allows users to interact with strangers in a virtual world and send messages to one another.
*Fortnite (teen for mature/suggestive content, violence) - Video game where the goal is to be the last remaining survivor. Allows strangers to message and talk over headset.
*Among Us! (9+ for violence and horror)
*Youtube (17+ ... yes, 17 and older!... for simulated gambling, mature/suggestive themes, profanity, horror, violence, medical information, alcohol/tobacco/drug use or references, sexual content/nudity) - Although not all content on youtube is harmful, a lot of it is. It's very important that we supervise and monitor what they watch on here.
